    How often do you update your website home page?

    With a blog, you can update your 'homepage' daily as it contains the latest blog posts. But, a static HTML site is not automatically updated and can suffer in search engine rankings due to the lack of fresh content.

    For that reason, it's a good idea to update your home page frequently.

    When I was running a static HTML site, i regularly updated the home page with links to new static pages; off site resources; products and even tutorials. The home page of a static site is an excellent resource for the reader and gateway to the rest of your site. It should be updated regularly to remain relevant and searchable.

    Hello, i have heard that dynamic sites are not good for google ait is hard to get rank compare to static sites though the content of the page can not change still dynamic sites are still better than dynamic sites..... please explain if needed or put your comment here.

    I do not have a site currently but I do think that it is imperative to stay on top of things and update them as much as you can.

    I don't understand why you wouldn't update your home page or other static site pages as often as you would a blog. It's important to update these static pages so you have good content the search engines can find. And, the more content you have on pages, the better chance you will rank higher in Google search, which is what everyone wants anyway.

    Static sites are pain. I simply forget I have them.

    Hi Deann,

    Not all websites need fresh content, that's simply not true. Google is smart and it knows that not all websites are the same and because of they it will not look at them all the same.

    There are probably millions of websites out there that don't require updating that are far better sites than ones that are getting updated. Content driven sites need fresh content but Service providers do not and other things do not. If you're just a website offering a particular Service of some kind you most certainly don't need to be constantly updating your page, it can't hurt but you don't need to worry about it in the eyes of Google. If things are going well for you then I would be looking in a lot of others places before trying to blame Google for what you believe is your own lack of fresh content.

    Google cannot except a a website to not be what it is intended to be when it's a perfectly legitimate type of website to have. I read about this more extensively somewhere in the past, all very logical points were made.
