When I hear that there has been a page rank update, then I will go check it but not before. It only changes during the update. So no reason to check before.

I also check my site ranking once in a week. I think we should check once in a week because every site needs some time for ranking.

I don't really check my SERPs and PR regularly. I just let it stay. As long as my site is getting visits, I'm fine. How often do you check your page rank?

I am quite unique in my answer as compared to the above ones as I do check the PR of my pages almost daily. Its not because I am much concerned of it but because it's a part of the plugin of the browser.

This is correct. A lot of people (and this thread proves it) try to check their PR constantly. The problem with this is, Google only updates the PR every once in a while (3-6 months).

I my self actually never do check them. Even when updates do occur. I personally don't feel that Page Rank has any effect on me or my sites. I have seen so many Page Rank get faked to try to either sell the domain, or sell advertisements on them. And yes, you can fake your PR.

I was just recently selling a website in which the domain had a small PR. The buyer constantly wanted to lower the price purely on that fact. I had told him I was not doing it because I'm not selling the site for its PR. The site would have made that money in 2.5 months for the price he was asking.

So again, I never check it. In my own opinion, PR has no value to me.

Why is there a need to check daily? As PardyCo stated, PageRank doesn't change everyday and if it does, it's on a span of 3-6 months. No one knows the exact date of the update. Besides, PR doesn't really help you in getting traffic.

Being active on Facebook and other sites (as I'm sure you are) is probably very helpful for getting traffic to your site. More so than page rank.

True that. I have been active to Facebook most of the day and it gives me more traffic than any other sites. And I rarely check mine, unless I see some post regarding PageRank.

Maybe it became your weekly routine that you do without even thinking. I mean, your body remembers it and do it voluntarily...

Maybe the PR of your site is a point of pride and knowing your page rank has increased helps you do a better job of site management as you are more proud of the site when it performs well.

Page Rank updates daily, you only get the new official number to be seen every 3 months. PR is a SEO factor, especially for quality of backlinks.
If PR itself would be updated every 3 months, rankings would often rise up or fall down drastically. But nothing unusual happens on PR update day.

Not really. When I realized I do it because I read it somewhere or the other that pr has been updated :|. It is basically because of false rumor How often do you check your page rank?

There would be any change when there is update in page rank officially... so when page rank is updated then you should check your page rank, it may increase or decrease.

Hello,

I check Alexa more often also, I could care less about pagerank though.. it's funny how USA.gov (national) is PR 10, and Facebook (internationally) is PR 9. #conspiracy

Kind Regards,
Everett

Ask yourself this question: Why Google demands all the affiliate links to be set up as nofollow? Of course link from PR3 page gets more results than a link from PR0. Of course there are more factors and exceptions, like a link from empty irrelevant (to your content) link from PR3 probably adds less to your movement in SERP than a contextual link from PR1 page which has more than 1 page relevant to your content.

Yeah that. Everywhere IM forum you visit on the PR update day, there are threads like "Why my PR dropped down" and "Wow, I just got PR2, it's awesome" How often do you check your page rank?

If you are getting very decent traffic and earning from Adsense or advertisers, then the site you are selling is very much well worth it, even without high PR as the site has good earnings potential. Pagerank is just one indicator of site quality, not the total package.

I do agree PR just tells you the ratio of inbound links v/s outbound links for and from your site. Many buyers don't even see pr before buying a domain How often do you check your page rank?
