Do you borrow ideas from other forums?

I don't ever copy discussions from other forums however, I will read what's on other forums (such as commonly asked questions) and hope that it inspires my own ideas for the forum that I own. I am only taking the idea not the actual words they use. So all content is original and mine and this idea works for me as it helps address common concerns my members have as most niches cover the same topics.

Whatever inspires the idea, just be sure to state it from your own point of view and add personal experience to make it your own. In this way, you can get the most out of the forum experience.

This is actually correct, as it would make your own work a distinct outcome from the one you looked up to in setting up your forum, instead of making it look purely as a copycat work.

It's very possible that you will read something on another forum that is very similar to an experience you've had on your forum. If so, there is no reason not to write about that as a forum post on your own forum or one that you are visiting. After all you are only stating your own experience with the problem and not copying what someone else has said.

Considering the nature of my forum and how it's all related to my own blog and things that I'm writing about, I would be very surprised if someone could actually copy what we are talking about there and apply it to their own forum.

I think that there is nothing wrong with borrowing ideas from other forums, no one is a master in all things, so therefore anytime you get confused along the way it's always better to look for tips from the work of others before you.

Though I own a blog, not a forum I will say I see nothing wrong with borrowing an idea from a forum and modifying it to suit what you need it for.The whole essence is not to copy the content, just pick one or two ideas and make it your own way.

I am inhabiting so many forums but I am proud to say that I had never used any ideas that I have read there. But I find some writers using the same topics but in different words. I just shake my head when I encounter copied topics because I know that they were copied from other forums. To me, that is a form of cheating, not plagiarism yet. What I usually do is to note down a related topic but not that exact topic that I have read.
