Do you encourage wild ideas when brainstorming a new forum?

Sometimes, it helps to take suggestions from others when brainstorming a new forum. And, some of these ideas might just be wild or crazy sounding. But, in the process of brainstorming, one really good crazy idea could be enough to spark a genius idea or direction that helps you set your new (or soon to be) forum apart from the rest.
Do you encourage wild ideas when brainstorming, such as your own ideas or from others?

What were some of your wildest or craziest ideas you had while brainstorming your most recent forum?

I tend to voice my opinion to others about their ideas for a new forum / blog. Some of them like to have crazy / wild ideas and I tend to support them because nobody should put anybody down for having a creative idea. I simply voice my opinion on it and leave it at that. But I do make sure that they don't have any bad feelings about my opinion and always encourage them to try their hardest.

When I'm thinking about opening a new site, I might go to a website where they have a brainstorming session subforum and post there about the idea. And, then when I get feedback from other members, I can easily make adjustments to my own idea and go forward with a fresh perspective.

Having another point of view on your ideas or even your forum is always a good thing as you get a fresh set of eyes looking at the sitatuion. And, someone else might see flaws (or benefits) of your plan that you missed and will be able to point out avenues that you missed.

Wild ideas mostly come from people not directly related to the subject matter. When my husband was making a plan to rejuvenate their forum, one friend who has no connection with the niche casually said that the local Oscar awards could be a great topic. That idea was polished and the forum conducted its own survey for the popular vote of those nominated for the awards. By the way, the forum is about the local movie industry. Anyway, the forum received a lot of votes that resulted in high traffic and new members. It is just a wild idea that was brought into fruition with good results.
