Do you use your mobile phone for freelancing work when out?

When I go out, away from home or a computer I always take my mobile phone but have never attempted to work from it. Do you use your phone to do any type of freelancing work? Are you able to do everything you need to?

I never done any work over my phone. It's small display and hard to browse. Also it's much harder to do some tasks over mobile phone. Using tablet may be an option, but nowa days you have wireless internet connections all around, so carry laptop is not a bad idea if you really have to be online

me too, I find it eye straining to do my work on mobile phone. It is strenuous and exhausting for middle age folks like me. I rather come back home and start hogging onto the laptop for 3 hours to finish off my tasks.

I can only work efficiently if I use a laptop. I cannot even make myself use the tablet because I need to have a normal sized keyboard and screen to manage to concentrate. However my smartphone is an important companion in my work as I keep it with me when I am away from my computer so as to check emails, notifications, messages and so on. I feel the need to be in touch with what is happening even if I am not at home, especially if this is going to be for several hours.

Hello sanfora,
This is a good question and I believe this is quite common actually. To be working from your phone.
I prefer working on my computer so I can't say that I do "work" on my phone. However, I do read/write emails if I need to, and I usually do some research whenever time allows too. When I'm on the train for instance, as I travel quite much between two different cities here in Sweden and I never bring my laptop on the train my phone is a perfect "tool" to have in my "Freelancing Toolbox".

Best Regards,

Yah very good topic. I am using mobile very frequently for freelancing work though due to small screen it is not possible to do importance task. And I just do some short work and do not do importance task. Just communicate with my clients, I usually use mobile phone. Specially for sending message or checking email when I am out of home or on the road. And I have tablet PC too which very small just 10 inch and operating system windows 10. And it is working as mini laptop. And usually bring it when I go long away from my office or home and I can do importance task with my tablet PC. It is really more convenient rather mobile phone. It is look like mobile device but working as laptop.

My mobile phone is always with me when I go out. I don’t normally work from my mobile phone as it is pretty difficult to work on a 5-inch phone. However, I do have an email app which gives me push notifications when I get emails. Whenever a client contacts me via private message, I get an email so I can reply to them straight away. I also have the Skype app on my phone so I communicate with my staff members and clients who have my Skype. I mainly just communicate with clients when I am out. I never do any work on my phone.

When I am out I always have my cell phone on me so I know when I get emails, so I can respond to them right away. As far as being able to actually work from my cell phone, it is really hard to do as the screen is a lot smaller than my desktop but my wife and I have done this! Although my wife and I work a lot better when we are at home and in our own environment, we do occasionally have no choice but to work from our cell phones. We run a business and need to make sure our customers are not feeling ignored, so we make sure we do whatever it takes to make them happy!

I only use my phone for social media. But for my freelancing, I prefer the computer, that is the desktop or laptop. It's not easy to type on the cellphone and mistakes are often so it's not comfortable to use the phone for working. To be honest, I used my phone several times for freelancing but it's given me a hard time.

Since I started freelancing especially writing articles, I have always been using my mobile phone. It was convenient and I got used to it and so I prefer my phone. I can still use a computer but doing freelance work on a smartphone is fast for me especially if the site I am working for is supported on my phone.

When I am not using my laptop, I always use my phone to check emails, social media sites and notifications on the freelancer sites where I am active. I am always online on my phone. When I am on go and cannot use laptop, I will be using my phone to communicate with my clients. When I was writing on Bubblews, I used to post articles through my smartphones. It was easier because Bubblews wanted just 400 characters.
