Where do you carry out your freelancing work at home?

Many freelancers work from home, and this is probably one of the best things about being a freelancer as it is undoubtedly convenient. Some have an office or a particular room that they use as an office.

But others do not have that and end up working in a room where they are going to have to get used to their relatives around them.

  • Where do you work?
  • Do you feel you need to be alone and secluded in a quiet place to be able to work?
  • Do your relatives bother you when they talk etc, while you are trying to work?

When I started working online I was in my aunts spare room because I lived with her after she broke her leg. I was the only one that was able to pick her up if needed, so I was volunteered to live with her and help her out. I didn't mind, it helped me with my online marketing because she paid the internet at the time Where do you carry out your freelancing work at home?

Q: Where do you work?
A: When I started I was in my aunts spare room and now I live in my own place and work from my couch while I try to ignore my TV Where do you carry out your freelancing work at home? I have a really nice spot in my basement with a very nice desk, but I soon found out that my wifi can't go through the floor for some reason Where do you carry out your freelancing work at home? I need to take a drill to my floor and hard wire my laptop so I can sit at my nice desk lol.

Q: Do you feel you need to be alone and secluded in a quiet place to be able to work?
A: At first, yes. But now I have a 7 year old and I've learned to work through the chaos lol. It's good and bad because sometimes my lady will be talking to me as I'm typing and I won't be listening. She really looooves this, not really.

Q: Do your relatives bother you when they talk etc, while you are trying to work?
A: Not anymore. When I started out I would get annoyed when someone was trying to talk to me but then I learned to just nod and smile. If they catch on that you're not listening and they get mad, you can just say "Well, I'm working". Now I can keep a conversation going, as long as I'm not mid paragraph or trying to configure something in my pages code Where do you carry out your freelancing work at home?

I have kids too so I also had to get used to the noise and talking and so on. It is really difficult to concentrate at times, but to a certain extent I guess I could see it in a positive light considering so many parents end up not seeing their sons or daughters for several hours a day as they have to work away from home.

If I had to write a letter to Santa for Christmas I guess I would wish for a home office with soundproofing lol. But since that is not possible I have to make do with the noise and distractions as best as I can.

Most of the time i was using separate room (as my office) to do my freelancing work or music. So it makes me comfortable to dedicate my self to quality of my work. Sometimes on nice weather i use to go outside in my peaceful garden with my laptop if it's not too busy, so i love the freedom of freelancing Where do you carry out your freelancing work at home?

I work from home. I do have a very small apartment right now and I actually work from my kitchen, as it's the only room I have that's separated from my bedroom/living room. The reason I chose to work outside of my bedroom/living room is that I need this "I'm off to work" feeling. It's the best possible option for me at this time. I had an office for about 7 months or so, about two years ago, but due to bills piling up, bad investments being made and due to some personal things, I had to get rid off it. I'm not easily disturbed so whenever my phone rings or someone's at the door. I'm totally fine with it.

I normally work in my room and close my door so no one can distract me. Occasionally, my family makes noise but they know I am doing work and tends to be as quiet as possible. I really enjoying it in my room because I can take regular breaks and lie on my bed and have a rest which feels really good, especially after finishing a long piece of work. It might be better if I can work in an office as it can be quite distracting being at home. Not just noise but I am someone who gets easily distracted and being at home doesn’t help.

I know what you mean. No matter how hard I try to concentrate at times it is practically impossible with kids especially. If they want to watch tv it bothers me but I cannot expect them not to. If they play a game on a computer they want to hear its sound and music, and more often than not it is a very irritating sound which just sticks to your head... well, it is difficult to concentrate unfortunately but I do not have the privilege of staying in a room on my own all day, so I have to TRY to concentrate.

HI EliteWriter thanks for very interesting question. I have started my freelancing career most probably on 2008 and now it has passed 7 years + almost and firstly I has started work as usually from home. And first 1 year I was working completely in home lonely and after than I just move to my friends office and occasionally I worked there. And from the 2010 I mange and set up a nice office, where has more than 10 laptops and 5 staffs and beside passing boring time I set up TV and a nice music system. And very nice and calm and quiet? circumstance in my office, which I like to do as working place. Sometimes I listen musing in very mild sound in working period but when I do any serious task I ignore all like music and watching TV. So, here no chance to annoying anybody during my work period.

Thanks by Ajlancer

I am a freelancer and I work form my home according to my continence. In my home, I work every where from my bedroom to drawing room, terrace and garden. Since there are disturbances working on these places, I am thinking to set up a separate working space in my home. I would like to have a small office room, where I would have my working desk, library , a fridge and a coffee maker. I want to work more so that I can set up my own working station.

We have a corner in the living room for a computer table where our desktop is situated. When someone is using the desktop, it is understood that no one should disturb. But sometimes I use my laptop when I am alone in the bedroom. I really cannot work well when there are people around.

I always feel I need to be alone so I can be able to work fast and more.
My home is small and not convenient for doing freelance work. Although sometimes I do not have an option and I always get distracted easily by everyone in the house. So I find going to school or the library to be convenient.
