What is your favourite forum software?

My favourite one is Xenforo because even though it is newer than some of its competitors such as IPB, Mybb and Phpbb, it is packed with features and there is an active community who is always willing to help you. I had some issues and I managed to get answers very quickly after posting on the forum. There are also lots of addons from the stock trader to the resource manager. However, one downside is that a lot of the plugins are paid and there aren’t that many good free addons. I think Xenforo definitely has a lot of potential to become the best forum software in the future.

I used vBulletin for years until xeneforo. I like XF a lot! IPB is nice too but I had issues with their support and not transferring a license from a website/forum I purchased so I vowed to never use them again. I've seen updates from VB and their newest version looks great, I also like their cloud hosting solution.

Also, we have a good forum topic about this same question: https://www.seocheckout.com/forum/...um-software.833/

I see a lot of forums seem to be moving away from vBulletin and transferring to Xenforo.

VB still holds the market share though according to BuiltWith.Com

Have you guys used SMF? What did you think of it?

I used SMF before but it was quite a long time ago. I thought it was okay but I kept having issues with their plugins and I couldn't get support. The user interface also doesn't seem to be as good as other free options such as Mybb and Phpbb. Generally, it was okay but I prefer Mybb and Phpbb more. I am quite surprised that SMF consists of 19% of the market and it is greater than Xenforo? Is this the latest statistics? I am also quite surprised that Invision Power Boards is only 4%. I thought it was a pretty popular option.
