Do you use Quora for social media marketing?

I just recently started using Quora and made like 20 - 25 posts only so far, but i noticed nice traffic and couple of new affiliates from it.

Do you use it and what's your experience with Quora?

I created an account on quora some days ago and hope to use it to get affiliates by asking questions related to SEO. Since you say it worked for you in getting affiliates, then i have to take it very serious too so i can get some good affiliates. Thanks for bringing up this topic.

I never thought to use Quora as a platform to market on, however I'm very aware of those who do. I joined Quora a couple weeks after it was launched. It has grown a bit since I've been there. Usually I use for it it's intended purpose, to ask questions, get answers and answer questions. My experience with Quora is somewhat good, however sometimes you are criticized for your questions by the moderators on there. I do know in the beginning if you posted affiliate links the moderators would remove the link but I'm guessing that's changed.

Quora is quite a popular Q&A community, but personally I do not like it that much. It could be because of the far too simple layout and some people who seem to answer questions in a way that is too obvious for my liking. If you consider using it for social media marketing I guess it would not be a bad thing as it has been established for several years and so there are many users. Besides it is quite common to see a post on quora appear on the first page of search results, so it ranks quite well.

I've only recently heard that being active on Quora can help with online marketing. I registered there a while back but only because I wanted to read some articles.

I got an email about a week ago saying someone is following me which is strange because I have done nothing but register and read... but I have a follower.

Maybe I should look at being more active there?

I think once you go to a page, it tells you how many people read a post, and list the current users that saw the post. at least it did long ago. You may have received a follower from the author of the content you were reading. More followers means more views to your content. I'm unsure the social aspect of Quora. Perhaps it's just for popularity, people love to boast on the website about everything including their followers and amount of answers they provided. However I love to post anonymous questions, because sometimes I don't want to be associated with my questions on a public platform.

That makes sense, I didn't know anyone could see what I've read though. I've heard a few people say that it is great for networking and getting your name out there.
My way of thinking is that I have my 3 websites, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Plus and Youtube... so like how much networking and social networks can one person do?
I have enough on my plate with all that and I think those are all the main places to be. Perhaps Instagram should be added but I've only just figured out that is only on mobile which would explain why I couldn't do anything with it.

I don't use it for marketing, but I read it often. They send me a daily email digest to topics I am subscribed with. They have a lot of amazing people and answers. I see a lot of those people posting often and sometimes they will link back to their own material which I often click through. I think that is the key to marketing there, adding value enough to make readers like me click through.

I have had a Quora account for years. I don't really use it for driving traffic to my websites and blogs, or for affiliate marketing. I use their free publishing platform; and people ask and answer interesting questions. I am just there because I like it! Any benefits that accrue from my activity there is incidental, but appreciated.

To be frank, I have read all the comments but I did not get a clear idea of what Quora is all about. I don’t know if it is a social media network or a directory or even a forum. I am on a learning stage and SEO is my main topic that’s why anything about traffic is interesting to me. Perhaps I should check on Quora later so I will have a solid idea about it and why it should not be used for posting links.

I think that the choice of communication channels is a specialist's task. It should be done based on the results of an analysis of audience preferences and actual presence in specific social networks. Quora now has good potential, if you use it very correctly. Just build a good strategy for this social media
