The Hummingbird Thread

If you didn't already know guys, there was a Google algo change announced recently. Google said this isn't just an update, but basically a complete change in the way results are displayed.

The name Hummingbird comes from this new search engine being "fast and precise" apparently, which is able to recognize complex queries as opposed to simple keywords as we're all used to.

It would be good to start a thread about this (unless I have missed someone who already started a thread!).

My experience this month is that rankings have actually improved quite a lot for the decent sites; traffic is up too!

Be good to hear everyone's thoughts!

I thought this was a forum was to discuss the new update and yet another seller turns this into an advertisement for their services.
Well I did see Quantum's service description on Seocheckout and it's not that well written. I know that you mentioned that you specifically did not want others to copy your service but it is vague and I don't know what I'm getting for your fee.
You also mention that you would rather focus on your site and that you don't want to divulge too much information or resources to Seocheckout... and that's fine too.
However your website is not even that good. I'm a buyer that's all I do on this site, and your site does not compel me to buy anything. It looks a bit amateurish and has links that are inactive.

I've never met or have even done business with the forum creator before, however I just wanted to chime in and put my 2 cents in. I'm sure some one on this thread will discuss Hummingbird.

Sorry Quantum.

Lmao bravo!

How again is this a advertisement because I believe thats called adding tags to posts and it links the site into a woven network, im sure seocheckout.com doesnt mind a well backlinked forum post

This was a thought about the Humingbird update and other Google updates and so I posted my thought about how most people look at it as a bad thing and encouraging fellow SEO editors to use white Hat SEO instead of Black its the future and yet some jack has to come and make a retard comment like that, attention to knock someone for what reason again, in related to Humingbird?

My service description may be wrote a bit sloppy but how do you know I really want that amount of sales, it says in it that I am doing many other services and people with some common sense and a network see the value and grab, not people wanting to spend or scared to spend $55

P.S
I had a stroke awhile back and lost most movement in my hand, I do not have my speaking software on this laptop as well, so typing an miss spells isnt my attention, I do well online I dont want any more wasted time my life goes up in value per minute if someone else feels this is right im sure they will message me wanting my services until I fix them as I just started using the site again because like it said just finished with a big project.

Really what was this guy thinking? Its directly about the update and others he never uses his account for anything but posting, an he sells none buys none, who are you my strange out of the blue poster, is this another seller? Intimidated your old school sloppy black hat services wont keep up? You must know me or remember me from a few years ago huh?

Do I really need to optimize my blog or site, Newbies Welcome

I have no idea who you are. I have never met you or any one on this site for that matter. Yes I only use my account for buying.
Sorry to hear about your stroke.

Good luck to you>

This is really the first that I have heard about hummingbird. I have been away for a while but I can see why they have called it this. Clever name actually.

Well Barry, I read that the Hummingbird update is more aligned with Conversational Search that was brought over around 2 years back as an app in Google Chrome browser. Does this mean that Hummingbird update is focusing more on natural long term 'queries' even more than previous updates? I am just confused ... does this mean we need to optimize our website more for long term queries, for example, how to get a free 'any thing in between'? or where to buy "something and something". Also, location seems to play an important role in Hummingbird update for finding a brick-and-mortar store in a specific location, if I am not wrong, but I am wondering how does it bring impact for sites that are targeting remote location, for example, if someone is trying to sell something to US audience whereas they live in Germany or whatever? Are they affected by this Hummingbird update anyway? Just curious to know.

So basically this update doesn't affect sites at all, but rather how the search engine searches and display results?

robertman11 this update has effected 90%of search result and they have effected many sites which have poor content or used spinning content. I have read in one blog rest you can see in detail http://www.transfocusweb.com/blog/...ird-will-affect/

I've actually seen a huge increase in search clicks this week, I'm guessing because of this.

Do we think that this will be a good thing?

definitely this update will be helpful specially to those people who actually search things on google and they do not know the exact word to use or keyword so they just type entire sentence using 4-5 words so this will help them to get exact result.

I think this update is a good thing really. Penguin 2.1 rolled out after this aswell...not so sure about that one being a good thing though!

I had a major drop in my search rank since my website used to be on top search results in google.rs and after this new algorithm it dropped to the second page which decreased my visits 100% , now i`m paying adwords to increase my visits and i`d like to know why is that so since my site is equally informative as the ones that are now in first positions so there must be some other reasons why , are they using some black hat , should i use same thing , if anyone would like to give me some advice i would apreciate ,I am ready to pay for some good services .
